BNP Paribas has announced the signing of a share purchase agreement with AXA for the acquisition of AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM), a global asset manager with approximately €879 billion in assets under management as of the end of 2024. This transaction, valued at €5.1 billion, is expected to be finalized in early July 2025, following consultation with employee representative bodies and obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.

This acquisition aims to strengthen the BNP Paribas Group’s position in Europe by combining its expertise in sustainable investing with that of AXA IM in private assets and insurance portfolio management. This expanded platform will enable the Group to better meet the needs of institutional and retail investors.

The transaction is expected to have an estimated impact of -35 bps on the Group’s CET1 ratio, with an expected return on invested capital exceeding 14% starting in the third year and surpassing 20% starting in the fourth year. The share buyback program announced for 2025 and the dividend policy remain unchanged.
