In a financial sector undergoing rapid digital transformation, Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) is partnering with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) to launch an ambitious project: creating a rigorous and transparent evaluation framework for AI-powered chatbots.
Objective: reliability, ethics, and performance
This partnership aims to better understand the actual performance of AI chatbots in a critical banking environment, incorporating criteria such as resilience, lack of bias, human oversight, and transparency. The goal is clear: to strengthen user trust while anticipating regulatory requirements and growing customer expectations.
“Generative AI is already profoundly transforming the banking landscape,” notes Olivier Gorin, Head of Digital Banking at BIL.
“ “Thanks to this collaboration with LIST specialists, we will gain valuable insights to tailor our future services to customer expectations and deliver personalized, reliable, and secure experiences. This project also demonstrates our commitment to contributing to a dynamic and innovative financial ecosystem in Luxembourg.”
AI Tested Under Real-World Conditions
The project is based on LIST’s AI Sandbox, a unique experimental environment for evaluating the linguistic, technical, and ethical performance of AI systems. By integrating BIL’s concrete use cases, this platform will gain maturity and applicability in regulated sectors such as banking.
“This collaboration represents a major step forward for the evolution of our AI Sandbox,” explains Francesco Ferrero, Head of the Flagship Initiative on Artificial Intelligence at LIST.
“ It already functions as a test bed for measuring the ethical, linguistic, and technical performance of intelligent systems. By integrating real-world use cases from the BIL, we are strengthening the maturity and applicability of the Sandbox in the banking sector, bringing us closer to a scalable framework ready for the commercial deployment of reliable AI solutions in critical and regulated environments.”
Toward a Responsible Deployment Model
This pilot project is part of a broader ambition: to offer financial institutions a replicable model for the ethical integration of artificial intelligence. It reflects a shared commitment to combining technological innovation, operational excellence, and the protection of client interests.
