Stonehage Fleming has just announced the appointment of Patrick Guarda as Global Head of Insurance Solutions, based in Zurich. With over twenty years of experience in life insurance, wealth planning, and taxation, he brings internationally recognized expertise to the firm. His mission will be to develop and oversee insurance solutions across all of the group’s offices, markets, and products.
A career rich in leadership and expertise
Before joining Stonehage Fleming, Patrick Guarda spent over fifteen years at UBS. There, he held senior leadership roles, notably as Head of Wealth Planning Life Insurance EMEA & Switzerland International, where he led a team of specialists across multiple markets. He also served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the bank’s in-house insurance broker in France.
His career began in tax consulting at international firms such as Clifford Chance and SJ Berwin (now King & Wood Mallesons), before joining UBS to establish and develop the Wealth Planning Tax Solutions department, covering a wide range of jurisdictions and client needs.
A Strategic Appointment for Stonehage Fleming
In his new role, Patrick Guarda will be responsible for structuring and expanding the insurance solutions offered by Stonehage Fleming. These will cover a variety of areas, including private placement life insurance (PPLI), property insurance (art, real estate, jewelry, cars, yachts, and aircraft), as well as high-coverage life insurance solutions.
The goal is clear: to strengthen the group’s ability to offer integrated and sophisticated solutions that meet the wealth management and insurance needs of a discerning international clientele.
A boon for the Family Office’s global development
Reporting to Mark McMullen, Partner & CEO of the Family Office, Patrick Guarda will contribute directly to Stonehage Fleming’s mission: supporting families and entrepreneurs in managing their complex wealth. His expertise in organizational transformation, the implementation of innovative distribution models, and regulatory optimization is a major driver for the future development of the group’s insurance offerings.
