At Paris Wealth Day 2025, Hubfinance met with Frédéric Mazzella, founder of BlaBlaCar, who presented his new entrepreneurial and social project: Dift. The vision behind Dift is to make generosity attractive, natural, and ubiquitous in our lives by supporting meaningful social and environmental projects. Dift stands for "Don + Gift," or Donation as a Gift, integrating the joy of gift-giving into the act of giving.
Simplifying engagement, amplifying impact
Dift simplifies the giving experience in several ways. A brand can offer “difts” to its customers, allowing them to allocate a sum to the cause of their choice, thereby reinjecting humanity into the customer relationship. Similarly, individuals can create their own charity fund for special occasions (birthdays, Christmas), inviting their friends and family to make a donation to a charity instead of buying a gift. This approach saves time and is seen as an extremely thoughtful gesture.
“Matching”: the multiplier effect of generosity
Dift bridges the worlds of wealth management and impact philanthropy through a matching mechanism. Major donors or corporate sponsors can double the donations made by individuals to charity funds. Dift’s statistics show that this mechanism is highly effective: 71% more people are encouraged to donate, and each donor gives an average of 51% more.
Partner organizations are rigorously selected based on criteria of governance, transparency, and measurable impact, reinforcing trust and the traceability of the projects supported.

After optimizing empty cars to reduce CO₂ emissions, Frédéric Mazzella is now putting technology to work for meaningful giving that is accessible to all.
